About Mik

Mikhail Adam Motala is a photographer, filmmaker and published photojournalist from Cape Town, South Africa.

He has a keen interest in live music, sport and travel photography
Having freelanced for various event websites, publications and production companies locally in South Africa and abroad over the past 10 years.

Capturing the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar live in action at Camp Nou, Barcelona The world’s top surfers in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa and various surf breaks in Bali.

He has captured various events and festivals in Ibiza, Spain including the likes of Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Bob Sinclair, Afrojack to name a few. He has worked in an official capacity for both the Ultra South Africa and Ultra Bali festivals.
Over the years, Mik has established himself as a prefered event photographer throughout Cape Town.

His travel photography portfolio includes sought after destinations throughout South East Asia such as South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia.

Some of the documentary expeditions he has been a part of have seen him travel with his camera across the Kalahari desert, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.

Mik is best known for his passion to capture life in motion regardless of the style of photography. He takes great pride in striving to capture timeless movements from behind the lens, one shot at a time.
